eThekwini: Community jab sites closed during festive holidays
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
eThekwini Municipality says the city's community vaccination sites will be closed on certain days this festive season.
In a statement released on Thursday, the City confirmed that the sites will be closed on public holidays, on the weekend of the 25 to 27 December and from the 31st to the 1st January 2022.
It says this includes their mobile beachfront vaccine pop-up.
Officials say the closure is due to low numbers of people getting vaccinated and the increased rate of infection among health care workers due to the current fourth wave.
"However, the public is encouraged to register to receive the Covid-19 vaccination. Evidence shows that vaccinations remain the most effective defence in reducing severe illness and death," says City spokesperson Msawakhe Mayisela.
