eThekwini: Berea water safe to drink
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
eThekwini Municipality says tap water is now
safe for residents of John Zikhali and Vause roads in Berea.

Recent tests showed the water quality did not meet acceptable standards.
The city said the supply became contaminated last month when technicians repairing a burst water pipe accidentally damaged a nearby sewage line.
Residents of Ward 31 lodged complaints about the water quality.

Municipal spokesperson Gugu Sisilana said the city launched an immediate investigation and started resolving the problem.
"The municipality undertook real work, which included isolating the water articulation system with a team flushing and disinfecting the affected pipelines.
"This only affected 14 properties on John Zikhali Road and 26 properties on Vause Road, but it did not affect the entire Musgrave and Berea area."
