Eskom warns of 'constrained' system this evening
Updated | By ECR Newswatch
Eskom is warning customers that the national grid could be constrained this evening, as a result of instability at several power stations - including Matla and Arnot in Mpumalanga and Koeberg in the Western Cape.
Eskom spokesperson, Khulu Phasiwe Tweeted earlier that a handful of power generating units were offline.
The power utility says customers should plan on the assumption that load shedding could take place this week.
Phasiwe says investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the outages. A conveyor belt was apparently cut at Matla.
Customers are advised to plan on the assumption that loadshedding will take place and are encouraged to check their load shedding schedules on the Eskom and their municipal websites.

#PowerUpdate: The national grid is expected to be constrained this evening due to instability at several power stations due to acts of intimidation. Several power stations now running at skeletal staff, a move that could compromise our ability to ensure security of power supply.

"Several power stations [are] running at skeletal staff, a move that could compromise our ability to ensure security of power supply," he said.
Coal trucking at other power stations had also stopped due to alleged intimidation.
