Elephant tramples man to death near Mossel Bay

An employee was trampled to death by an elephant at a private game reserve near Mossel Bay in the Southern Cape.

Mossel Bay Advertiser reports local police spokesperson Kappie Kapp as saying the incident happened at the Gondwana Reserve.
He says emergency services had been summoned, but the 39-year-old victim was declared dead at the scene.

The elephant had been moved from the area.
Police have opened an inquest docket while the investigation continues.
