Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
A suspect is in police custody following the murder of an elderly woman during a break-in at her Isipingo Hills home, in the south of Durban.
The police's Thulani Zwane says the 67-year-old woman was strangled in her Spathodia Drive home last night.
"The suspect took her cellphone before he fled the scene. The police were called to attend to the scene. On their investigation, they managed to arrest the suspect who was found in possession of a cellphone belonging to the victim," Zwane said.
Zwane says police are also to determine if the woman was raped.
