EFF will not support ANC: Malema

'EFF will not support the ANC'

Despite pledging votes for the opposition in hung municipalities, the EFF says it will not be getting into bed with the ANC.

The party's Julius Malema briefed the media yesterday.

He said the goal is to ensure that the ANC does not remain in power.

Malema says despite meetings with both the ANC and the DA, a coalition agreement could not be reached.

Minority government thus remained the only option. Malema says they couldn't consider not voting as that would have been cowardice.

"Every budget passed by these municipalities will have to come to us. We have to see it for five years. Don't write - housing has been allocated R500-million - we want specifics in the budget. Do you have Diepsloot, Orange Farm?

"What are you going to do in Orange Farm for the next five years? Those are the real politics within municiplaities ," he said.

The EFF says it will vote with the DA in the metros of Ekurhuleni, Johannesburg, Tshwane and Nelson Mandela Bay while siding with the IFP in KZN.

Malema, yesterday set out the conditions for the ANC in order for an alliance to be formed.
