Edgewood campus unrest: SRC, UKZN management meet
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
Student leaders and UKZN management are meeting following protest action at the Edgewood campus in Pinetown this morning.
Students blocked the entrance to the parking area with burnt rubble and overturned rubbish bins.
They're unhappy about their accommodation at a residence they share with SANDF members.
They say they want better ablution and cooking facilities, Wi-Fi, as well as their own leisure area - among other things.

During Newswatch's visit to the residence, a student could be seen brushing his teeth at an outside tap.
This student says it's been a challenge.
"There are some inconveniences in this place. For instance, the toilets here are very far away and the places for cooking are also far. It makes it difficult for us to live in here. There are services which are not met. We need services to be improved so that we can live [comfortably] and that our academic activities are not disturbed," he says.
UKZN says lectures at Edgewood have been suspended for the day. Classes are due to resume on Monday.
