Easter: Over 10 motorists arrested for drunk driving

Over 10 people are behind bars after being
caught drinking and driving on the KwaZulu-Natal North Coast on Friday.

The arrests come as authorities step up road safety efforts over the long weekend.
KZN Transport spokesperson Ndabezinhle Sibiya says they are still pushing for a six-year jail sentence to deter offenders.
"More than 180 cars were stopped during a multidisciplinary roadblock held around Qalakabusha Correctional Service Centre along the R34 in Empangeni.

"Six cars were impounded after Ummemezi Wezimoto detected that they had no permits, 33 cases of the violation of traffic rules were registered.
"One taxi driver was arrested during and driving and he endangered the lives of passengers."
