Early results show ANC leads, IFP second in KZN
Updated | By Shaun Ryan
The first results of the 2019 National and Provincial Elections have started to trickle in the IEC's provincial results operations centre in Durban.

At a provincial level the ANC is firmly in front at the moment with around 100,000 votes or 54% of the ballot.
The results centre is a lot more active this morning, with officials verifying results as they come in.
The results are reflected on a large screen at the front of the room and a dozen smaller screens erected around the seating area.
This morning, the ANC has the lion's share of the vote that have already been tallied. As it stands, the IFP is the second best performing party in the province with 20,59% of the vote.
The DA has a little over 12% of the vote so far. The EFF has earned 7,37%. It's important to remember that these figures will change in the coming days as more results come in and are verified at the centre.

The final results are only expected on Saturday.
At this stage, it's not yet clear what areas the votes already tallied are from - as some districts are strongholds for certain political parties.
