A northern KwaZulu-Natal man is now serving a life sentence for murdering a metered taxi driver in October 2024.

Simphiwe Mdletshe, 34, was found guilty on Friday, by the Ulundi Regional Court of robbing and murdering Cebolenkosi Mnyandu in Ulundi.
It's understood Mdletshe and others posed as passengers before robbing and strangling Mnyandu along the R66 road.
They then dumped his body near Denny Dalton and fled with his vehicle.
NPA says police arrested Mdletshe the next day using the car's tracker.

KZN NPA spokesperson Natasha Ramkisson-Kara says he pleaded guilty, but his accomplices are still on the run.
"The Dundee Regional Court has sentenced a 44-year-old man to life imprisonment and 20 years imprisonment for the rape and two counts of attempted murder he committed in April 2023. The accused was sentenced to life imprisonment for rape and 10 years imprisonment for each of the two counts of attempted murder. He was also declared unfit to possess a firearm.
“The NPA welcomes this successful prosecution. We remain committed to fighting the scourge of gender-based violence and will continue to pursue justice on behalf of the victims of crime."
