Management at the St Francis Xavier Catholic Parish on the Bluff has confirmed that Priest - Father Mike Foley - was on pilgrimage with a group of parishioners from Durban who were on the bus.

The church confirmed to Newswatch that th spouses of those still being treated in hospital - are staying with them in Egypt.

They were part of a group of tourists travelling by bus in Giza when a road side bomb exploded.

International Relations spokesperson, Ndivhumo Mabaya says no one suffered life threatening injuries.

He says Egyptian investigators are treating the explosion as an isolated incident.

"The diplomats must assess the situation. The law enforcement agencies in Egypt have been looking after us for a long time. We know how to engage with each other," Mabaya said.

Mabaya says a travel advisory to Egypt has not been issued, at this stage.

"It is important that if you travel to another country - you must make sure that you take necessary documents in terms of medical and travel insurance in case something like this happens. We encourage South African tourists currently in Egypt to assess the situation - and if they choose to stay, they can continue to do so," he said.
