Durban firefighters douse blaze near Berea Station

Firefighters say they worked for around two hours to extinguish a blaze above Durban's Berea Station.

The flames spread across the platform at the Traditional Vendors Market.
He says the flames spread quickly, burning through quite number of stalls.
Dube says many distressed vendors tried to make their way to their burning stalls. Firefighters had to usher them to safety.
"People were arriving trying to salvage what they could, but we had to stop them because it was dangerous for them to go in."
eThekwini Fire's Nkulumo Dube says they were called to the scene after 10pm.
