Durban City FC midfielder Zondi dies during match

Durban's football community is in shock following the sudden death of midfielder Sinamandla Zondi.

The Durban City FC player collapsed during a match on Tuesday night.
The 22-year-old was playing in a game against Milford FC, at the Chatsworth Stadium, when he is said to have collapsed during halftime.
The Motsepe Foundation Championship match was immediately called off.
Durban City FC later tweeted that the game had been suspended due to circumstances beyond its control.

An image later surfaced showing a group of paramedics huddled around Zondi in the pouring rain.
The club has confirmed Zondi’s passing in a statement.
Shocked fans and fellow clubs have shared messages of condolences online with one person calling it a, “sad day,” for South African football.
