Dundee man sentenced for sexual assault and kidnapping

A northern KZN man has begun serving an eight-year prison sentence for the sexual assault and kidnapping of a woman.

Sizwe Maphisa was found guilty of attacking the 27-year-old at her homestead in Dundee in May 2022.
She alleged that her attacker entered her home and took her to a nearby river where she was assaulted.

While attempting to fight him off, she managed to remove his balaclava.
She escaped and reported the matter.
KZN police spokesperson, Siyabonga Nkwanyana:
The accused was swiftly arrested by the detectives. The detective ensured that the docket was trial ready.
The District Commissioner Major General Francis Slambert wants to assure the community that we as police do not tolerate any acts of Gender Based Violence in our communities.
