Dube-Ncube condemns brutal attack on Umlazi matric
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
KwaZulu-Natal Premier Nomusa Dube-Ncube has condemned an attack on a matric pupil in Umlazi, who's been left fighting for her life in hospital.
The girl was badly assaulted, allegedly by a mob of students, at her school.
She was apparently accused of stealing a cell phone last week, and assaulted and threatened with a gun in Umlazi's J-Section.
Four suspects aged between 17 and 24 lined up in court on Monday.
Dube-Ncube visited the 19-year-old in hospital on Wednesday and slammed the attack as deplorable.
"We are really disturbed that the school did not report immediately such an incident, but the child is receiving psychosocial support as we as the family.
"The family is also very traumatised about this situation. The sad thing is that this is happening on the eve of us heightening the campaign of no violence against women and children."
