Dove pulls ad after social media storm
Updated | By ECR Newswatch
Beauty product, Dove has received backlash for an advert, depicting three women removing a T-shirt, revealing a different woman thereafter.
The outcry on social media is particularly directed at the first frame - where a black woman is seen taking off a brown T-shirt, a white woman appears in the next frame.
Dove responded to the backlash it's received - saying the short video, posted by its US affiliate, doesn't represent the diversity of real beauty.
"This [ad] did not represent the diversity of real beauty which is something Dove is passionate about and is core to our beliefs, and it should not have happened," Dove said in a statement.
Meanwhile, social media users have reacted to the video - with the #BoycottDove hashtag trending.
