Dior, Saint Laurent ban skinny models
Updated | By AFP
A host of French-owned fashion labels spanning Christian Dior to Saint Laurent pledged this morning to ban ultra-thin models from their advertising and catwalk shows in response to criticism that the industry encourages anorexia.
Two of the industry's biggest holding companies, LVMH and Kering, unveiled a charter "to ensure the well-being of models."
This will also outlaw the hiring of girls under the age of 16 for adult shoots or events.
Under a new law passed earlier this year, models are now required to present a doctor's certificate proving good health.
