Further details surrounding the death of one of former President Jacob Zuma's sons, will be released later today.
It is understood that 25-year-old Vusi Nhlakanipho Zuma passed away in Johannesburg last night, following a short-term illness.
He was the youngest son of Zuma and his late wife Kate Mantsho - and the brother of Duduzane and Duduzile Zuma.
Zuma's spokesperson, Vukile Mathabela, has confirmed Vusi’s passing but declined to elaborate.
“What we have agreed is that the family will issue a statement and cover everything,” Mathabela says, “I think it is only fair to respect that”.
Meanwhile, the ANC has already issued a statement, in which it says it shares in Vusi’s family’s grief and is deeply saddened by his untimely passing.
“A bright and promising young lion and disciplined member of the ANC, Nhlakanipho Zuma was a dedicated and a humble activist who took a keen interest in the livelihoods of our people,” the statement reads, “His acts of kindness and gentle soul will forever remain in our hearts”.
The party has extended its condolences to the Zuma family.
