Deputy minister killed in Pretoria crash

Messages of condolences are pouring in for Deputy Minister
of Mineral Resources, Bavelile Hlongwa.
Hlongwa was killed in a car crash near Pretoria on Friday night.
The incident occurred on the N1 in the Hammankraal area.
It is understood Hlongwa, who was born in Umzinto on the KwaZulu-Natal south coast, had been assisting a motorist who’s vehicle had overturned when a truck ploughed into the wreckage.
Leaders from the ANC in KwaZulu-Natal visited Hlongwa’s family home on Saturday.
In a statement KwaZulu-Natal Premier Sihle Zikalala said the country has lost a talented young leader in Hlongwa.
Hlongwa was appointed to her role as deputy minister after the elections in May.
