Dept welcomes ruling on building Nkandla school
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education, which was ordered by a court to build a school in a community near Nkandla, in the province's north, says a number of factors need to be taken into consideration before construction can begin.
The Pietermaritzburg High Court ruled in favour of AfriForum and the Mpungose Traditional Council this week.
They went to court arguing that the Nkungumathe community has been waiting for 10 years for the department to deliver on its promise to build a high school.

Education's Muzi Mahlambi says they respect the court's decision.
"We will then be coming up with a way forward [concerning] the verdict. We are a law-abiding department. We will take marching orders by the court into consideration when we study the verdict," Mahlambi said.
