Delays, technical issues mar voting at some polling stations

Several polling stations experienced delays on Wednesday morning as voting began in earnest.

South Africans headed to the polls on Wednesday morning to make their mark on the ballot papers, with hundreds of voters standing in line from 6:30 am.
For some voters, election day began slowly due to delays reported, including at the makeshift voting station in Centurion, where RISE Mzansi leader Songezo Zibi is expected to cast his ballot.
One of the voters at the station, who asked to remain anonymous, told Jacaranda FM News that he had hoped to beat the queue but was met by delays.
He says he remains hopeful.
"They are still trying to figure out how to put up the ballot boxes, as it seems".
Meanwhile, Rise Mzansi leader Songezo Zibi arrived shortly before 8 am and joined the back of the queue of over 300 voters.
At just over one-year-old, the new kid on the block has campaigned on the slogan '2024 is our 1994'.
Making his final-hour bid to woo the electorate on social media on Tuesday - Zibi called on South Africans to vote for change.
"It’s time for change. It’s time for new leaders. The people, the leaders of all the political parties that you are unhappy with, came in through the vote; the only way you are going to get them out is through the vote; it is very important that all of us use this opportunity in our democracy.”
Polling stations are set to close at 9 pm.
