De Lille's attendance at EFF memorial intentional: analyst

A political analyst believes the recent decision by DA member, Patricia de Lille, to honour Winnie Madikzela-Mandela at an EFF-led event was her way of sending a message that she will not be intimidated by her own party.

Relations between De Lille and the DA have been strained - since the party levelled allegations against her - including that she coveredup corruption in the City of Cape Town where she is mayor.

The DA says De Lille did not inform its leader that she would be speaking at the EFF memorial service in the Free State on Wednesday.

Analyst, Imraan Buccus says the De Lille's move appears to have been intentional.

"She almost deliberately opted to be present at an EFF rally that was framed within a strikingly radical posturing when it comes to Winnie Madikizela Mandela," Buccus said.
