Dane Nair's family still waiting for answers
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
It's been a year since a south coast man was found strangled to death and his family says police have failed them.
Dane Nair was found dead in the parking lot of the Port Shepstone Police Station last June.
The 29-year-old had gone to the police station to report the death threats he'd apparently been receiving shortly after opening his business.
His sister Rani Landsberg says at first, Nair's death was recorded as a suicide by police investigators.
The case was changed to murder in March this year.
Landsberg says the family hired a private forensic investigator as they found discrepancies in the police reports, making them suspect a cover up.
"It's a [strange] story that they didn't see or hear anything and they don't know anything. He was at the police station. There's no recollection of what happened at that time - nobody knows what happened. It was round about the time this whole incident had taken place," she said.
