The former DA Shadow Minister of Police is expected today to sit in a disciplinary hearing, over her sharing of a controversial social media post recently.

She shared a post from a journalist on Facebook who praised former apartheid leader PW Botha, saying life was better under his rule.

Kohler-Barnard later apologised for sharing the post, saying she hadn't read the full post or noticed the reference to Botha.

In a DA reshuffle recently, she was removed from her position and is now the deputy shadow minister of Public Works.

Local political analyst Protas Madlala says the issue will hang over the DA's head for years to come if it isn't dealt with properly.

"She's going to continue as a liability to the party. The opposition party has always used the statement 'we told you, there's nothing that has changed the DA is still as racist as we have been telling you'. Especially if there's support from the black voters ," he said.
