Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
Prominent Democratic Alliance member Mbali Ntuli has tendered her resignation from the party and as an MPL in KwaZulu-Natal.
Ntuli who campaigned for DA leader in 2020 confirmed her resignation in a statement released on Thursday morning.
Ntuli, who has been a member of the party for 15 years, says the decision wasn't taken lightly but the move is necessary for her growth as a community leader.
She says her colleagues know about the difficult and relentless challenges she's faced in the party.

Ntuli says she doesn't wish to rehash any of these moments - highlighting some of them have played out in public.
She adds she's been forthright in instances where she felt the DA erred in its treatment of party members.
Ntuli says she leaves with a deep sense of compassion and is immensely proud of the work that she's done in the party.
