Helen Zille was being investigated for allegedly breaching the DA's constitution for tweeting that colonialism was not all bad.
The DA will brief the media at noon about its decision taken on this issue.
The matter was discussed at the party's federal executive meeting this week.
DA leader spokesperson Graham Charters confirms a decision was taken at the meeting.
"Today, DA leader Mmusi Maimane will brief the media on the outcomes of a two-day meeting of the party's federal executive which took place between 2 - 3 June," he says in a statement.
Maimane will be joined by DA federal executive chairperson James Selfe.
Zille landed herself in hot water with the controversial tweets.
Zille's tweets caused outrage, with many taking to social media to express their anger against her views.
