Covid-19 recovery rate drops below 95%

South Africa’s Covid-19 recovery rate has shown a drop – after months of keeping steady at 95%.
The latest report by Health Minister Zweli Mkhize shows the rate has dropped to 94.4 % by Sunday evening.
This was on the eve of South Africa rolling out its mass Covid-19 vaccination programme.

"The cumulative recoveries now stand at 1 524 352 representing a recovery rate of 94,4%," reads the report by Mkhize.
The minister says 2 582 new cases of Covid-19 have been recorded, while another 27 people lost their lives.
"As of today [Sunday] the cumulative number of Covid-19 cases identified in South Africa is 1 613 728," says Mkhize.
