The court on Thursday heard the bail application of three of the seven men arrested in connection with the killing of the rapper and his friend on Florida Road over a year ago.

Five are being held in Durban while the State is working on extraditing two from eSwatini.

In an affidavit, Lindokuhle Mkhwanazi denies any involvement in the murders, believed to have been a hit, and says the State has a weak case.

He detailed his arrest last December, revealing that officers stopped him while he was driving and detained him in relation to another case with similar charges.

He claims during interrogation, detectives put to him that he may have been involved in the AKA-TIBZ murders, an allegation he says he immediately denied.

The 30-year-old believes he will not be found guilty and intends to apply for a discharge of the charges.

The court has heard Mkhwanazi works in the taxi industry in Mtubatuba and brings in around R40,000 a month.

He's told the hearing he is newly married and that his wife is expecting their first child.

He added that he also supports his siblings.

Because it's a schedule 6 bail application, the onus is on Mkhwanazi to prove exceptional circumstances.

Earlier, the court heard that only accused 1, 3 and 5 would proceed with their applications on Thursday.

The affidavits of the other two suspects are incomplete.
