Court dismisses EFF's bid to make public CR17 bank statements
Updated | By Newswatch
The Economic Freedom Fighters' (EFF) bid to have the bank statements of Cyril Ramaphosa's ANC presidential campaign made public has failed.
The High Court in Pretoria dismissed the application with costs on Tuesday.
The party approached the court, saying unsealing the records was in the public interest.
The documents were obtained by Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane when her office was investigating the campaign.

She wrote in her report that there was a risk of some sort of state capture, given the amount of money raised.
Mkhwebane submitted the records to the court when Ramaphosa challenged her report.
The deputy judge president of the Gauteng High Court subsequently sealed the documents at the request of Ramaphosa's lawyers – who said they contained confidential information.
