Updated | By Celumusa Zulu
Authorities are investigating the source of counterfeit goods worth an estimated R13 million that were recently seized at a Durban container depot.

The Hawks say the investigation began last year after a suspicious container was intercepted by police.
The items were later confirmed to be imitations of major brands.
KZN Hawks spokesperson Sibu Ncane says officials pounced on the Roseburg container depot on Friday.

"The investigation commenced in April 2024, when the Border Police intercepted and inspected a container, leading to the withdrawal of product samples for further analysis.
“Brand attorneys subsequently confirmed that the inspected merchandise contained a broad array of counterfeit products bearing well-known brand names, including Adidas, Nike, Lacoste, Gucci, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Puma, Batman, Superman, Samsung, Stevemanden and Colgate.
"No arrest has been made at this stage, but the investigation continues.”
