COSATU not fazed by 'rival' federation
Updated | By Zongile Nhlapho
COSATU President S'dumo Dlamini says they are not threatened by the newly-formed labour federation with axed COSATU secretary-general Zwelinzima Vavi at the helm.
On Monday, the group consisting of unions including NUMSA, announced the new movement would be formed next month and be officially launched in May.
NUMSA was expelled from COSATU in 2014.
Dlamini says they are focusing on COSATU not other organisations.
"We are not fazed by this. We won't even begin to try to compete with what they are doing, actually we are focusing on continuing to build a stronger COSATU," he said.
Dlamini has rubbished claims COSATU has become the ANC's puppet. He says there is no federation that is not political but an alliance does not mean one party is led by the nose by the other.
