Cosatu March: No pay for striking teachers
Updated | By Puseletso Petersen
The 'no work no pay' principle will be applied to teachers who left the classroom to take part in Cosatu's anti-corruption march yesterday.
KZN Education's Kwazi Mthethwa says they received reports from a number of schools that many pupils were left unsupervised during the strike.
"It means that they won't be paid for that particular day. While we respect the constitutional rights of any labour union to participate in a legal and protected strike - we take exception when learners are left unattended. That's why we have the policy of no work, no pay," he says.
