Cosatu: Arrest high profile individuals not mere public servants
Updated | By Jacaranda fm
The Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) is calling for the speedy arrest and prosecution of high profile individuals implicated in corruption.

The union federation marched in the capital on Wednesday morning to hand over a memorandum of demands.
Cosatu President, Zingiswa Losi told crowds gathered outside the National Treasury in Pretoria the fight against corruption should be treated as a national priority.
"We don't want when you say high profile, you only go after public servants who only press the button and not go after those who make the decisions," said Losi.

Losi told union members that there is no political conspiracy when the Hawks arrest politically connected individuals involved in corruption.
"Corruption is corruption, go and prove it in court. A person must go to court to prove their innocence," said the Cosatu president.
Losi said the union is also calling for specialised courts that would handle corruption. The trade union federation has given government 14 days to respond to their demands.
