Corruption case: Zuma 'has attributes of Jesus Christ'
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
Local religious leaders who have thrown their weight behind Jacob Zuma - say they can no longer sit and watch what they say is the persecution of the former president.
They were at the Durban High Court this morning - where Zuma made his first appearance on 16 charges of fraud, corruption and money laundering.
Chairperson of the Moral Regeneration Movement in eThekwini, Bishop Nqoba Zindela has likened Zuma's prosecution to what Jesus Christ went through.
"We can't keep quiet. This man has been humiliated. He has gone through suffering. He is not less than the leadership of Jesus Christ when he suffered for the people - he suffered to give freedom to the people. We regard Zuma in his leadership as having attributes of Jesus Christ," Zindela said.
Zuma’s appearance in court was brief. The matter has been postponed to June.
