Corrupt Durban cop handed 12-year sentence

A Durban police officer has been handed a
12-year prison sentence for corruption.

Hawks officials said Claude Ince asked for a R5,000 bribe to make evidence disappear during an investigation into fraud in 2017.
In a separate incident, the Bellair-based Warrant Officer was investigating a case of theft when he demanded R3,000 from the accused - who paid him a thousand.

He then instructed the woman not to attend court proceedings.
The 51-year-old detective was found guilty in both cases last year.
