Coronavirus: South Africa records 6 new COVID-19 cases

There are six new cases of COVID-19 in South Africa - bringing the number of people who have tested positive for the virus to 13. The Health Minister says six more people have tested positive for the virus.

Another person in KwaZulu-Natal is infected, pushing up the figure in our province to seven now. 


A 40-year-old man was tested after he returned to South Africa from Portugal on Saturday.

The Western Cape has confirmed its first case.  


A 36-year-old man was diagnosed with the respiratory illness after extensive travel in Europe. He flew home on Monday. 


Gauteng's recorded another four cases. 


A 33-year-old woman who went to Italy came back 10 days ago. 


A couple in their early thirties travelled to Germany. 


Then a 57-year-old man, who'd visited Austria and Italy, arrived home on Monday. 


The Health Department says some of these patients are already in hospital while others are in self-quarantine. 


More than 645 tests for coronavirus have been conducted in South Africa.
