Cooking oil spillage leads to N3 closure
Updated | By Anastasi Mokgobu
The N3 Toll Concession says the highway will be closed to traffic after a truck transporting cooking oil was involved in an accident.
The concession’s operations manager Thania Dhoogra says law enforcement closed the road in both directions for public safety.
"Clean up operations are well underway to contain the cooking oil spillage.
"Light motor vehicles are being diverted onto the R74 northbound at Bergville interchange and southbound at Harrismith. Heavy motor vehicles remain staged on scene."
“The entire N3 Toll Route is currently closed in the vicinity of Montrose in the Free State following an incident involving a truck carrying cooking oil.
“Road users are advised to avoid the area and/or delay their trips for the time being. Delays are expected whilst extensive clean-up operations are underway,” says Dhoogra.
