Tongaat residents, north of Durban, are being urged to be extra careful when venturing near the river.

Croc-handlers from Crocodile Creek - outside Ballito - say they have received numerous reports of sightings over the past few weeks.

Attempts to locate the animal were unsuccessful yesterday.

The facility's Sean le Clus says the croc will be relocated to their farm once it's captured.

"There is a trap in the river at the moment to see if he will go in there. We are trapping the crocodile with bait he might be interested in - either barble or some fish," le Clus said.
