Cold weekend ahead, snow expected over Drakensberg and Lesotho mountains

Gauteng could be in
for a cold weekend as snow is expected over the regions of Drakensberg in
KwaZulu-Natal and Lesotho.

South African Weather Service forecaster Lehlohonolo Thabele says there is a 60% chance of thundershowers in the eastern parts of the country this coming weekend.
"Gauteng, Mpumalanga, eastern parts of North West, most parts of the Free State, eastern parts of the Eastern Cape and central to southern parts of KwaZulu-Natal will expect an 80% of showers and thundershowers," says Thebele.

He warns of flooding in some areas where heavy rainfall is expected.
"The snow expected is very light, it is minimal snow expected on the mountain tops of Drakensberg and most parts of the mountain peaks on Lesotho," he says.
