Cogta in KZN says maladministration won't be tolerated
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
The KZN Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs has welcomed the latest developments around the stolen R7.5 million which has seen a third suspect appear in court.
Earlier this year two employees were arrested in connection with the amount stolen from the department.
Further investigations led to the arrest of a third suspect who appeared before the Pietermaritzburg Magistrates Court yesterday and was released on bail.
The department's Lennox Mabaso says the suspect was an employee in the Supply Chain Management Unit.
"We are serious in combating any act of mal-administration, fraud or corruption, whenever they manifest themselves. Including the civil service, including within our own ranks. We hope this will send a strong a strong message that people may commit wrongdoings but the long arm of the law will eventually catch up with them," he said.
