Chief defends Ramaphosa's wildlife donation
Updated | By Maidi Monareng
Chief Livhuwani Matsila says the ANC Youth League (ANCYL) in Limpopo should respect that the wildlife donation by Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa will boost economic activity and create jobs for the youth.
The league hit out at the donation and will reportedly not be attending the handover ceremony on Saturday.
Matsila has confirmed that Ramaphosa has donated three buffaloes, 25 impalas and 10 elands to the Matsila Wildlife Economic Project.
He says nobody who represents the youth will make statements like that.
"You will see on Saturday that many young people in and around Matsila will come to see the Deputy President and hear his speech about environmental protection. The youth will come from many political formations. Some of them are not even political, they will just be interested in what is happening on the day," says Matsila.
Matsila says this is beyond political issues in the country.
"I think the ANCYL should respect that reality," says Matsila.
Ramaphosa's donation comes amid the ANC presidential race between himself and former African Union Chairperson Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma.
The ANCYL in the Free State has officially backed Dlamini-Zuma.
Matsila adds that the Matsila Wildlife Economic Project will attract tourists and boost the economy.
