Chatsworth security guard killed in shooting

A security guard has been shot and killed in an alleged robbery in Chatsworth, south of Durban.

It's understood an unknown number of suspects attempted to rob a betting Tote on Lenny Naidu Drive on Sunday morning.
ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson says first responders at the scene were told the security officer was shot after attempting to stop the suspects.
"The man believed to be in his forties had sustained a gunshot wound to his chest and unfortunately there was nothing paramedics could do for him, and he was declared deceased on the scene.
"One other bystander had sustained minor injuries and was stabilized on the scene before being transported to a nearby Hospital for the further care that he required.
"At this stage the exact events leading up to the shooting is unknown however SAPS were in attendance and will be investigating further."
