Car hits bridge, kills three in Pietermaritzburg

Three people have died after a road crash in Pietermaritzburg.

It is understood a car collided with a bridge on Payn Street on Sunday morning, after losing control.
First responders from KwaZulu Private Ambulance Services say it left the driver entrapped.

"Paramedics together with Fire and Rescue Services utilized specialized rescue tools to successfully extricate the driver," said spokesperson Craig Botha.
"Sadly, this incident resulted in three fatalities. One individual sustained serious injury and is receiving medical attention before being transported to hospital for further care.
"The cause of the accident is currently under investigation by the relevant authorities."Find us on social media
