Calls for urgent action amid spate of deadly KZN shootings

Calls are growing in KwaZulu-Natal for urgent police and government intervention following a series of deadly shootings in the province.

On Sunday a man in his twenties and an 18-year-old were killed in what's believed to have been a drive-by shooting in Verulam.

KZN police say they were in their vehicle when they came under fire in Trenance Park.

 

The DA's Sharon Hoosen says crime has reached unprecedented levels in the province 

 

"We cannot even rely on cameras in hotspot areas as the cameras, even in the eThekwini areas, are none functional."

"With over R160 million that the province has allocated for crime-fighting measures, it seems that these initiatives are still in the planning stages. All this while people continue to die in our province."
