The Department of Education in KZN is calling for a thorough investigation into the death of Pinetown pupil Nqobile Hlophe.

The Grade 8 learner will be laid to rest on Thursday.
The teen's body was discovered on the N3, near the Richmond bridge, over the weekend.
Police say 13-year-old Nqobile was killed in a hit-and-run on Friday.
The Pinetown Girls High pupil was reported missing by her family after she didn't return home.
The school and her family described the teen as a loving and gentle soul.

In a statement on social media, the family appealed for justice for their daughter, saying the post-mortem examination revealed gut-wrenching details about her death.
Education spokesperson Muzi Mahlambi says Nqobile's family deserves closure.
"You can imagine the trauma that that the family is going through. We hope that justice is going to be done."
Police say a blood-stained car registration plate was recovered from the scene.
They are investigating a case of culpable homicide.
