Bus services in PMB will be disrupted: transport official

Pietermaritzburg commuters who rely on municipal buses will have to make use of other means to get around as the bus service will be affected by the nationwide bus strike.

The Sizanani Mazulu Transport, who run the bus service in the provincial capital, say operations will be halted.
Metalworkers' union Numsa says members will down tools from tomorrow following a wage dispute with employers in the sector.
The union is calling for a 15% wage increase across the board and a review of weekend working hours.
SMT depot manager, Ashraf Hathan says commuters should be prepared for tomorrow.
"SMT will be affected by the bus strike tomorrow. We are not providing a service to the public," he said.

Meanwhile the Ikhwezi bus service in Richards Bay says they do not expect their workers to strike, but are prepared for any downtime.
Spokesperson Ephriam Cebekhulu says the workers are divided in opinion.
"Some of the workers want to work - because they received the 15% increase," he said.
Tansnat, which operates the eThekwini buses, says they will operate as normal tomorrow.
