Buhle Bhengu laid to rest today
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
Buhle Bhengu will finally be laid to rest in Umlazi - south of Durban today.
The Bhengu family returned home from the Bahamas on Wednesday after fetching her ashes. The family had tried to have her body repatriated so she could be buried at home. Buhle died after a short illness while working on a cruise ship last month.
The Bahamas refused to release the 29-year-old's body. Her sister - Mbali says she was cremated on Sunday.
"Once we saw her it was only then it sunk in that she was gone. It was very distressing and an emotional experience", she said.
Mbali says they will now have to wait three weeks for the autopsy results.
"They told us we would have to wait 3 to 4 weeks. We were amazed to find out it would take so long because had already been a month that she had passed on", Bhengu said.
