Updated | By Newswatch
A three-year-old-boy has died after a
structural collapse at a construction site in Durban North.

It is understood two children were playing around the site on Daphne Road when the embankment gave way on Saturday night.
Andreas Mathios from Marshall Security said the children got trapped under mud when the trench collapsed.
He said a nine-year-old girl, believed to be the boy's sister, was pulled out alive and taken to hospital with various injuries.

"The cause of the collapse of this embankment is unknown at this stage and will form part of an ongoing investigation," said Mothias.
"The rescue efforts by all on scene must be commended, including eThekwini Fire, the TLB that was brought in to help with the excavation, as well as all the relevant role players from Search and Rescue Metro, as well as the SAPS who arrived a short while after the first call went out."
