Booysen's return as Hawks boss 'not guaranteed'
Updated | By Zongile Nhlapo
The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation says there's only one Hawks head in KZN and it's not Johan Booysen.
The unit has indicated it's going ahead with a Supreme Court of Appeal case to appeal the decision to lift Booysen's suspension.
The Durban High Court lifted the latest suspension on Booysen last year and earlier this year dismissed the Hawks' application for leave to appeal the decision.

The NPA announced yesterday that racketeering charges are being re-instated against Booysen and the 27 members of the now disbanded Cato Manor Serious and Violent Crimes Unit.
Hawks spokesperson Hangwani Mulaudzi says Booysen's vacancy was open to be filled as he was never employed in a permanent capacity by the unit.
"They were not permanently placed. Even if they win, it doesn't necessarily mean they will come back to the DPCI. They can be deployed anywhere within the SAPS,"he said.
