Body of man swept away at Southbroom beach found

The body of a man who has been
missing at sea
last week has been recovered by sea rescue teams on
the south coast.

On Thursday, the 22-year-old was swept away by a rip current on Southbroom Main Beach.
According to the National Sea Rescue Institute, beachgoers reportedly spotted the body in the surf zone on Monday.
The NSRI's Craig Lambinon said search and rescue teams were dispatched immediately.

"The body of an adult man was located and recovered from the water by police divers, assisted by NSRI and recovered onboard the NSRI Rescue Craft," said Lambinon.
"The body of the deceased man was brought to the NSRI Shelley Beach Station 20 rescue base onboard the NSRI Rescue Craft.
"The man's body has been taken into the care of government health, forensic pathology services and police. An inquest docket has been opened."
